Substation General Foreman - HV
Conductor Power is a company that focuses on electrical substations, and they are seeking a Substation General Foreman to oversee the construction, maintenance, and operation of these facilities. The role involves managing a team, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and directing on-site activities to maintain safe and efficient production.
Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of substation crews
Ensure project equipment, production, and material trackers are up to date
Update POD and distribute by 9:00AM daily to all applicable parties
Conduct daily site inspections to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies and industry regulations
Oversee installation, maintenance, and repair of all substation equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, and protective relays
Troubleshoot and resolve complex HV system issues and provide technical guidance to the team as needed
Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to execute project work in alignment with specifications
Conduct regular inspections and assessments of substation operations
Provide training and guidance to team members on equipment and safety procedures
Promote a strong safety culture on-site, enforcing adherence to safety protocols, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and other regulatory standards
Ensure all team members understand and follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures for HV systems
Conduct weekly safety meetings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments to address site hazards and safe work practices
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and project superintendents to plan and execute substation projects
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment status, and inventory
Respond to emergency situations and coordinate repair efforts
Implement preventive maintenance programs to enhance system reliability
Communicate effectively with other departments and stakeholders regarding project status and operational issues
Complies with all company policies
All other duties as assigned or deemed appropriate
Qualification
Required
High level of precision to ensure safety and system reliability
Quick and effective troubleshooting of electrical and operational issues
Ability to effectively lead crews, assign tasks, and manage timelines
Clear verbal and written communication for instructions, reporting, and coordination
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
Ensures all work adheres to company and regulatory standards
High school diploma or equivalent
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Proficient in using relevant tools and equipment
Occasional lifting (up to 50 pounds), carrying, walking, and standing
Frequent hand/eye coordination to operate computer keyboard and office equipment; vision for reading, recording and interpreting information; speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and other team members
Ability to move around project sites, which may involve walking, climbing stairs, and navigating uneven terrain
Valid driver's license
Preferred
Technical degree or certification preferred
Previous supervisory experience is highly desirable
