Responsibilities
You will assist in the design and conduct of studies aimed at improving methods and procedures in exam construction and advancement system
You will develop flow chart procedures and methods in selecting, recording, and analyzing statistical data
You will monitor computer produced compilations to ensure accuracy and appropriateness
You will conduct a thorough analysis for each operation necessary in the collection, compilation, analysis and interpretation of statistical data to determine appropriate methods and techniques
You will develop advanced Statistical Program for the Social Sciences (SPSS) statistical program construction and corresponding documentation as well as the operation of the computer systems
Qualification
Required
Applicants must possess bachelor's degree (or higher degree) that included 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, of which at least 12 semester hours were in mathematics, and 6 semester hours were in statistics
Meet the mathematics course requirement by having at least four of the following: differential calculus, integral calculus, advanced calculus, theory of equations, vector analysis, advanced algebra, linear algebra, mathematical logic, differential equations, or any other advanced course in mathematics for which one of these was a prerequisite
A combination of experience and education with at least 24 semester hours of mathematics and statistics, including at least 12 hours in mathematics and 6 hours in statistics, plus appropriate experience or additional education
Have appropriate experience which includes evidence of statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying known statistical techniques to data such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance
Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program
New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check
Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level
Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing the principles, concepts, and methodology of mathematics and statistics, which includes graduate level work in statistics, in the mathematical and statistical aspects of large scale testing and studies; 2) Assisting in research, analysis, design, development, testing, and performing technical functions and information assurance; AND 3) Assisting in conducting studies and reports that provide statistical analysis and use analytical techniques
