Project Manager - Digital Platforms

The Department of Conservation (DOC) serves to protect and restore nature across Aotearoa. They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a strategic project that modernizes their digital platforms, including a website replacement, to enhance conservation efforts.

Responsibilities

Deliver modern digital platforms including a website replacement to support sustainable outcomes for nature
Manage the delivery within scope, time, and budget, coordinate multiple workstreams (including discovery, content, design/user experience, functional development and testing, migration and deployment), manage dependencies and ensure alignment with other key initiatives across the organisation
Work closely with the web team, vendor, internal stakeholders and leaders to make sure solutions meet requirements, facilitate workshops and provide clear and timely communications
Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, and risk registers, guide and monitor progress through the various workstreams, manage risks and dependencies, and resolve issues proactively
Provide regular status reports to governance groups and senior leadership, ensure compliance with organisational standards and frameworks
Support adoption of new systems and processes through effective communication and training strategies

Required

Proven experience managing large-scale, multi-workstream projects involving multiple stakeholders and complex technical integrations
Strong knowledge of digital solution delivery
Excellent vendor, relationship management and communication skills
Collaborative, with a solutions-focused, user-centric mindset
Detail-oriented with excellent planning and scheduling skills
Familiarity with Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies
Excellent documentation skills and ability to manage budgets, risks, and resources effectively
Experience in public sector or operational environments
Qualifications in project management, business, technology, or related fields or demonstrated equivalent experience in project delivery roles

Preferred

Project management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2, AgilePM)
Familiarity with modern website technologies and content management systems (CMS)
