Responsibilities
Assist in developing, advising and clearly communicating medium to long term electricity demand forecasts using a mix of machine learning, statistical, econometric and engineering approaches
Design, test and refine electricity demand forecasting models using advanced methods and energy sector expertise and document insights and conclusions clearly for diverse internal and external audiences
Analyse market and industry developments impacting Australia’s evolving energy systems and maintain high-quality documentation to capture process improvements and methodological enhancements
Mentor and support graduates and students in delivering high-quality analytical work
Qualification
Required
Bachelor or advanced degree in a quantitative and/or business discipline
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex analysis clearly
Sound knowledge of the energy sector and AEMO's political, legal and regulatory context, or the ability to rapidly acquire it
Experience in demand forecasting and applied analytical work across operational, business and regulatory questions
Capability to design and develop conceptual models and interrogate large datasets using databases
Proficiency coding models in tools such as R, Python, Databricks or similar
