CNC Router Programmer / Operator

Responsibilities

Create & Manage Design Models:Translate SolidWorks or comparable CAD models into toolpaths using Alphacam (or similar software), including nesting, tooling selection, G-code generation, and preparing accurate CNC files for production
Operate/Program/Process CNC Machinery:Run CNC mills and other machines efficiently while actively programming at the workstation and ensuring smooth, uninterrupted workflow. Cut, machine, and finish exhibit structure parts according to design specs including creating custom vectors or defining parts when required
Maintain CNC Production Queue and Optimize Throughput:Organize and prioritize CNC jobs for efficient flow, adjusting the queue based on deadlines, material availability, and project urgency
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Communicate with Roto’s designers, engineers, and fabricators proactively on material needs, machining capabilities, and constructability considerations
Ensure Quality Control:QC and recording of any non-conformance to PD standards in departmental logs and uphold quality standards for all CNC-produced components
Perform Routine Maintenance and Coordinate Vendors:Conduct daily/weekly machine maintenance, monitor consumables, and coordinate with maintenance vendors to ensure machines remain in optimal working condition
Installation Support (As Needed): Assist in on-site installations, testing, and hands-on adjustments to exhibits and interactive components

Required

Experience in CNC, Mill, and Plasma Cutting operations
Experience with CAD software such as AutoCad, SketchUp, or Solidworks
Proficiency with a CNC tooling path software is required, Aspire, Alphacam, and Fusion experience preferred
Firm understanding of exhibit design and constructability
Time management skills with the ability to work independently
Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
Ability to work over-time hours as needed
Ability to calculate proper end mills, feeds, speeds, lubricants, air, and hold down requirements for a large variety of materials
A naturally curious, hands-on problem-solver
Must be able to operate a computer
Must be capable of lifting 75+lbs repeatedly over the course of a normal work day
Must be able to operate a forklift (training provided)
Ability to lift and move heavy objects and work from lifts, ladders and high platforms
Must be able to work in shop conditions which may include changing temperatures and conditions
Ability to lift, bend, twist, squat, sit and stand for prolonged periods of time
Ability to effectively communicate with team members and clients
Extended work hours may be required
