PLC/SCADA Engineer
Elevate Talent Acquisition is seeking a Controls Engineer responsible for analyzing, developing, maintaining, and implementing automation and control systems. The role focuses on supporting safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations through various technical responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Support I/O devices connected to PLCs, including HMIs, remote I/O, sensors, relays, solenoids, and other components used in automated processes
Assist maintenance personnel in troubleshooting electrical, PLC, pneumatic circuits, and other automated‑process components to meet production and safety goals
Respond with urgency to assigned work, equipment breakdowns, and emergency work orders, supporting maintenance teams as needed
Ensure control systems comply with regulatory requirements, including participation in SIL and LOPA assessments
Maintain or create instrument and electrical drawings for control systems, including motor elementaries and instrument loop sheets
Maintain PLC documentation from equipment suppliers and ensure proper archiving of PLC programs and control drawings
Mentor technicians and technical staff on control system strategies, troubleshooting, and installations
Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to support IT/OT systems and infrastructure
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field
Minimum of three years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Hands‑on experience with Allen‑Bradley and Rockwell Automation platforms
Understanding of IT and OT network communication protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DNP3, Modbus, IEC 61850, OPC, OPC UA, PROFINET) and ability to perform packet analysis
Knowledge of threats, vulnerabilities, and mitigation techniques related to industrial control systems
Familiarity with regulatory requirements for ICS environments
Working knowledge of PSM and DHS regulatory requirements
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
Highly organized with strong time‑management discipline
Ability to work effectively across all organizational levels
Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet deadlines
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
