Automation Engineer
Anchor Automation is a leading automation company focused on building strong leaders and scalable automation solutions. They are seeking a highly motivated Automation Engineer to support the engineering division by executing, implementing, and continuously improving automation solutions across a diverse client base.
Design
Responsibilities
Design, develop, program, and test PLC- and SCADA-based automation systems
Support control system architecture, I/O definition, and network design
Design, build, and support fabrication effort for automaton control panels and systems
Develop and maintain PLC logic, HMI/SCADA applications, and system documentation
Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and commissioning activities
Support on-site startups, troubleshooting, and issue resolution during deployment
Apply and adhere to established engineering standards, templates, and delivery models
Collaborate with project managers, field teams, and clients to ensure successful execution
Escalate technical risks and challenges to senior engineering leadership as needed
Working knowledge of electrical controls schematics, electrical power distribution, mechanical layouts, and P&ID diagrams, with the ability to read, interpret, and contribute to the development of electrical control schematics
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's or technical degree in related field or equivalent work experience
2-4 years of hands-on experience in building and/or industrial automation preferred
Basic knowledge of programming to include Rockwell Automation, and/or Schneider Electric PLC / HMI / SCADA platforms required
Proficient with Python, Java, C/C++ and PLC / HMI a plus
CODESYS – based PLC Platforms a plus
AI / MQTT integration with PLCs, HMIs, or IIoT platforms a plus
Proficient in using Fluke digital multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation testers for diagnosing electrical and instrumentation systems
Proficient in troubleshooting instrumentation issues, including signal loss, sensor calibration, and loop integrity verification
Knowledge of automation control loops, field IO, P&ID's
Knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical Systems (MEP)
Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Ability to function and execute independently and as well as part of a team
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally
50-60% travel may be required
Preferred
2-4 years of hands-on experience in building and/or industrial automation preferred
AutoCAD Electrical experience a plus
