Research and Development Engineer Intern
The Applied Research Laboratory at Penn State University is seeking undergraduates to assist ARL engineers in various technical areas. The role involves supporting modeling, testing, and the development of algorithmic solutions, particularly in machine learning and artificial intelligence.

Support for modeling, fabrication, and documentation

Contribute to the research and development of unique algorithmic solutions for a wide array of sponsor requirements, with a focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence
Assist with the design, assembly, and testing of prototype hardware
Qualification
Required
Current Penn State employee or student, or external applicant
Ability to obtain a government security clearance
Must be a U.S. citizen
Successful completion of background check(s)
Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen
Support for modeling, fabrication, and documentation
Support for testing, data analysis, and data display
Contribute to the research and development of unique algorithmic solutions for a wide array of sponsor requirements, with a focus on machine learning and artificial intelligence
Assist with the design, assembly, and testing of prototype hardware
Preferred
Mechanically inclined or the ability to learn and be comfortable trying new things
Knowledge of MATLAB or Python
Ability to take data in an organized fashion and write a report about their results
Students in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Acoustics, or Engineering Science & Mechanics are encouraged to apply
