Ink Technician - 3rd Shift

The Ink Technician will operate ink dispensing and mixing systems, prepare and dispense inks, and ensure color accuracy for press runs while maintaining inventory and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Operate ink dispensing and mixing systems, including EMMS software, to build jobs and manage ink formulations per press requirements
Prepare, mix, and dispense inks accurately according to press schedules and job specifications
Correlate press and anilox specifications to ink room blend formulas to ensure color accuracy
Operate X-Rite color measurement equipment and software for color control and verification
Prepare inks ahead of press runs and provide press-side assistance with ink and color-related issues
Track, log, and manage ink inventory, including receiving incoming inks and returning press ink (thin ink)
Maintain proper ink storage practices, including FIFO rotation and inventory reduction through ink work-off
Manage thinned ink room operations and ensure proper usage and documentation
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe ink room, drum storage, and work areas
Support and participate in all safety programs, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives
Communicate clearly and effectively with press operators, supervisors, and cross-shift team members
Perform other related duties as assigned

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
Prior experience in manufacturing and/or printing and converting required
Strong attention to detail with the ability to work at a consistent speed and high level of accuracy
Basic math skills and understanding of measurements and ratios
Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
Ability to follow standard operating procedures and adapt to new processes
Color matching proficiency (must pass a color proficiency and color blindness test)
Frequent standing, walking, and use of hands to operate tools and equipment
Ability to lift and move objects over 50 pounds
Vision requirements include close vision, color recognition, and focus adjustment
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to inks, solvents, and industrial equipment

Preferred

Computer proficiency, including experience with ink management or production software preferred
Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills preferred
