Software Development Engineer II
Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. The Software Development Engineer II role involves developing software simulations for the New Glenn rocket and collaborating with engineering teams to ensure software safety and functionality.

Responsibilities
Support the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond
Develop software simulations to load propellants and launch Blue Origin’s pioneering New Glenn rocket
Translate your understanding of P&ID drawings into robust simulations
Convert cutting-edge concepts into executable, flight-ready code
Collaborate closely with the controls team to verify control models
Work in tandem with the launch team to validate your software in real-world scenarios
Qualification
Required
B.S. or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Aerospace, Software, or related field)
2+ years of experience in the applicable industry and/or a controls-related role in a non-academic, professional setting
Experience with Simulink or other model-based design software
Experience with Simulation environments
Experience working in a configuration managed development environment
Knowledge of common programming languages such as C/C++, Python
Hands-on experience with artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies, including the ability to integrate AI-driven solutions into engineering workflows
Familiarity with AI model integration, deployment, and optimization

Required for Certain Job Profiles: Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if at any time the role requires one to be on a military installation
Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training
Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
