Responsibilities

Writes complex code in SAS 9.4 or SAS Viya using advanced SAS procedures, SAS macro language, and ODS output to develop original statistical reports, troubleshoot, or enhance existing reports
Evaluates business and system requirements to recommend which data should be migrated from legacy systems or created to meet new system requirements, ensuring all necessary data is included and persisted
Assists with the management of DWC’s SAS data warehouse to meet data reporting needs
Meets with program area users to gather, define, and validate business requirements necessary for programming work
Analyzes proposed programming projects in terms of requirements, capabilities, and time management; and may provide technical assistance and advice to other programmers
Reviews and revises SAS programs to increase operating efficiency or to adapt to new procedures
Including documenting the methods and procedures used during development, testing, correcting, and revising programs
Adheres to defined programming standards, database documentation, and business rules
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, computer information systems, management information systems, accounting, finance, mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field is generally preferred
Three years of professional work experience in SAS 9.4 or SAS Viya environment, including SQL experience
Working knowledge of project management techniques
Experience and education relevant to the position requirements may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis
Demonstrated knowledge of state laws, rules, procedures, and regulations relevant to job requirements
Principles, practices, and techniques of programming and systems analysis; computer operations procedures and systems; and computer programming languages
Data migration and common API protocols and solutions
Demonstrated skill in problem solving and critical thinking
Using Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint
Using personal computers sufficient to enter and extract data from related systems and programs such as Centralized Accounting Payroll and Personnel (CAPPS) and other systems required to perform the job
Documenting methods and procedures used in development, testing, correcting, and revising programs
Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with a wide range of people with varied skills, knowledge, and backgrounds
Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
Analyze and solve work-related problems and work independently on a variety of administrative work and technical assignments
Manage and coordinate multiple tasks and priorities to meet necessary deadlines
Work both independently and as a team player
Process information logically; to design programs and systems logic; to prepare program specifications; to code, test, and debug software; to interpret technical information related to programming and other areas of data processing; and to communicate effectively
Oversee and/or supervise the work of others
