Payroll Technician-Accounting Technician
The Minnesota Department of Corrections is hiring a Payroll Technician to support the payroll department within DOC Financial Operations. This role involves ensuring accurate time recording and timely payment for employees, as well as processing reimbursement claims for travel expenses according to state policies.

Responsibilities
Provide technical and administrative support to employees who work at the DOC ensuring employees accurately record time worked, leave taken, and that they are paid timely and accurately
Reviewing and processing reimbursement of claims submitted DOC employees for travel expenses incurred while on state business, ensuring reporting follows State of Minnesota, Minnesota Management and Budgets (MMB) and DCT travel policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements and compensation plans
Qualification
Required
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) sufficient to analyze, interpret, and prepare financial information, records and reports; locate errors; and recommend solutions to procedural or other fiscal problems
Customer service experience working in a business-to-business environment sufficient to interact effectively with individuals having differing backgrounds to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information on the phone and through e-mail
Experience with spreadsheet and word processing software, such as Microsoft Office, to create and update spreadsheets and other documents
Mathematics skills sufficient to calculate, review and reconcile financial data
Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
Preferred
Advanced degree in Business, Accounting or an Accounting related field
Experience processing employee payroll for a large (e.g. 150 or more employees) organization
Experience working with State of Minnesota's SEMA4 system (Statewide Employee Management System)
Extensive customer service experience working in financial environment
