Responsibilities
Develop conceptual and detailed design of marine equipment, piping systems, and mechanical packages (static/rotating equipment, HVAC, deck machinery, cranes)
Apply industry codes and standards (API, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, NFPA) to ensure safety and compliance
Analyze and improve performance of pumps, generators, compressors, and hydraulic systems
Create, review, and finalize technical drawings, specifications, and budgets for new installations
Evaluate offshore structure integrity, environmental load responses, and hydrodynamic conditions
Investigate equipment failures and recommend remedial actions
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering
5-10 years of experience in mechanical design within the marine/offshore oil & gas sector (FPSO, drillships, or jackups)
Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar 3D modeling software, along with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools
Thorough knowledge of ASME, API, and ABS standards
Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and clients
Professional Engineer (PE) License (preferred) or capability to acquire
Preferred
Oil and gas domain is preferred
Additional familiarity with building and installing offshore equipment on a ship would be expected for a mid-career hire
