Responsibilities

You will manage a highly diversified and complex engineering program directed toward the design, construction, and maintenance of the full variety of structures, facilities, and utilities throughout the installation
You will supervise and direct the varied functions of the organization encompassing design, engineering services, and military construction requirements
Directs the activities of engineers, technicians, and support staff engaged in the development of preliminary and final designs, construction drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and supporting data for construction
You will serve as the professional engineer responding to inquiries and questions pertaining to the design, preparation of drawings, specifications, and statements of work for all facilities engineering projects in the installation
You will ensure all projects reflect engineering soundness and are in compliance with laws and policies
You will initiate, design, and complete special projects such as determining long-range adequacy of facilities, planning, and funding for replacement of facilities or equipment with more modern systems
You will represent the installation in conferences and in final inspections
You will provide direction and supervision for all sustainment, restoration, and modernization design construction projects for all buildings, grounds, roads, and utilities in the installation
You will direct and manage personnel by planning and distributing work, set priorities, and control work accomplishment

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326

Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases
You will be required to possess and maintain a current valid United States driver's license
You will be required to maintain a current professional engineering or architectural registration
You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying engineering concepts, principles, and practices; developing innovative approaches to the design and construction of facilities; applying financial management and procurement concepts to achieve project goals; and providing advisory or consulting services to recommend unique solutions to problems
Supervising and maintaining a staff of engineers, architects, and specialized technicians
Successful completion of a professional engineering degree
Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico
Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board
Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering
Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering
