Responsibilities
Co-found the company and shape product direction with the business co-founder (problem definition → MVP → iterations)
Own and build the MVP end-to-end: architecture, backend, frontend (as needed), APIs, data layer, and integrations
Make pragmatic technical decisions under constraints: speed, cost, security, scalability
Establish the foundations: repo, coding standards, CI/CD, observability, cloud infra, security baselines
Translate customer feedback into product iterations—fast shipping cycles, measurable outcomes
Lead by example in code reviews, architecture reviews, and technical decision-making
Over time: hire and lead a small, high-output team, define processes, and maintain quality
Qualification
Required
5–10+ years building production software, with evidence of shipping real products
Strong hands-on ability in one main stack (e.g., TypeScript/Node, Python, Java, Go, C#) and comfort learning what's needed
Experience designing scalable, secure systems (auth, permissions, data handling, reliability)
Comfortable across backend + cloud + DevOps basics (you don't need to be a DevOps specialist, but you can run production)
Founder-level ownership: proactive, resourceful, high accountability, low ego
Proven leadership: you've led projects/teams, mentored engineers, and driven delivery—not just 'managed'
Preferred
Previously built as Founding Engineer / early startup (0→1 or 1→10 stage)
Microservices / event-driven systems (only if justified—otherwise monolith-first)
Experience with regulated or security-sensitive domains (privacy, compliance)
Familiarity with product analytics and experimentation (instrumentation, A/B thinking)
