ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN
NAVWAR is seeking an Engineering Technician to serve in the Test & Work Control Engineering Division of PSNS and IMF. The role involves planning, executing, and certifying testing of Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical systems on naval vessels, providing technical engineering solutions, and managing the non-nuclear work control and test program.

Responsibilities
You will be directly responsible for the planning, document preparing, control, execution, and certification of testing of Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical systems on naval nuclear and nonnuclear vessels undergoing work by Puget Sound Naval Shipyard
You will provide technical engineering solutions for testing, control of ships conditions, transfer of ships systems operation and work controls for all non-nuclear systems
You will obtain and maintain the status of all in process and upcoming production work and test
You will direct execution of authorized procedures as necessary to establish system conditions required for work, maintenance and testing
You will provide day-to-day management, control, and direction of the non-nuclear work control and test program
You will approve, monitor and provide technical oversight during test evolutions and ensure procedural compliance is followed

Must be a US Citizen
Must be determined suitable for federal employment
Must participate in the direct deposit pay program

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326

You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty
You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift
Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites
You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
This position requires that the selectee be willing and able to climb ladders and scaffolding
You will be required work onboard ships
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: applying technical engineering principles, practices, techniques, and procedures to develop mechanical and electrical system isolation and tagout process by overseeing control system conditions and the transfer of ship systems operations
