Responsibilities
Assist Site Supervisor in plans and supervise activities of farm and livestock operations to dispose of treated effluent through center pivot irrigation systems and pump station on the City Land Application disposal sites
Coordinate activities with Site Supervisor. Assist with performance standards, work priorities, and schedules
Train employees in the operations and maintenance of center pivots and pump stations
Ensure safety regulations are followed. Ensure that safety information is available for employees
Examine irrigation equipment for repair and rehabilitation of system
Assist in preparation and administer the operating budget for the cost center
Maintain cooperative working relationships with all regulatory agencies. Control public access to the sites
Schedule and assist with equipment maintenance to ensure continuing operation with minimum lost time
Assist in purchasing needed equipment and supplies
Prepare equipment specifications
Perform related duties as directed
Qualification
Required
Completion of a high school diploma or the equivalent with an additional three to five years of experience in irrigation practices with center pivot systems and large irrigation pump station
At least two years of supervisory experience in farming, irrigation, and/or harvesting operations
Valid Current Driver's License
Knowledge of the maintenance and proper efficiency of irrigation systems
Ability to diagnose a variety of malfunctions in pivot systems
Ability to communicate effectively with others
Ability to supervise the work of others
Ability to maintain accurate records
Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds
Frequently walk and stand during shift
Occasionally climb ladders, stairs, and inclined surfaces
Occasionally crawl when greasing equipment
Frequently reach at, above, or below shoulder level
Coordinate eye, hand, and foot movement
Frequently rotate upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees
Frequently rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing
Preferred
Working understanding of TCEQ Wastewater Permit terminology and compliance requirements
Successful supervision of large irrigation pump station operation and pivot maintenance
