Responsibilities

Participate in the installation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems, wiring systems, equipment and appurtenances for all facilities under the jurisdiction of DFM
Ensure subordinates and self adhere to applicable safety practices, rules, and procedures, and performs all duties in a safe and acceptable manner to ensure the safety of self, co-workers, and the general public
Will be assigned to service locations that are subject to applicable state and federal laws in order to access the facilities
Perform other related duties as required
May be called out to work while on off-duty status to respond to electrical emergencies

Required

At time of application, you must be a citizen, national or permanent resident alien of the United States or a non-citizen eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment
Experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality to competently perform the journey level skills and duties of this position
Knowledge of the principles and theories of electricity and electronics and experience in installing, maintaining, testing and repairing electrical/electronic equipment, systems, apparatus, and instruments
Knowledge of the practices, tools, equipment and materials used in the electrical and electronic trades
Knowledge of testing equipment and testing procedures to maintain and repair electronic components
Knowledge of hazards involved in working around energized lines and equipment and experience applying safety practices of the trades
Knowledge of reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, diagrams and schematics of electrical and electronic circuits for electrical wiring installations and modifications to electrical and electronic circuits
Ability to estimate material requirements for jobs
Ability to work with dexterity and handle weights and loads
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to maintain good working relationships with others
Valid driver's license (type 3/automobile)
Valid Hawaii State journey-level electrician's license
City and County of Honolulu Forklift Operator's Certification Card (to be obtained prior to completion of probation)
Basic computer skills required
Be able to work at various heights, from an electric lift, scaffolds, and/or aerial trucks
May be exposed to some working conditions that require the use of a respirator
Fingerprint-based criminal history record check as part of the pre-employment suitability
Federal background check as mandated by the U.S. Navy for access to USN Whitmore Naval Station
