Accident Reconstruction Mechanical Engineer

They are seeking a self-motivated Staff Engineer with experience in accident reconstruction to research vehicle systems, analyze collision evidence, and support case file development in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Researching vehicle systems and specifications
Examining and analyzing collision evidence using engineering principles and industry-specific software
Working with firm principals and other analysts to share knowledge and develop new methods for evidence reconstruction
Support the Primary Consultant and Project Engineer in all aspects of the case file
Build the case file to support the analysis performed and the opinions of the lead consultant
Dynamic simulation using PC-Crash and HVE
Evidence analysis and diagramming using AutoCAD
Photogrammetry techniques using PhotoModeler
Video analysis including file encoding, information compression, and object positions in images
Operating 3D scanning equipment in the field at inspections of vehicles and roadways
Research and provide support literature for analysis performed
Build evidence and reconstruction analysis presentation
Support field inspections as needed by driving company vehicles, operating 3D laser scanners, and assist with work measurement, documentation, or physical logistics at inspections
Support CID research and publication through testing and data analysis
Follow the career development criteria, training plan, and certification as defined by the Director of Engineering and Technology (DET)
Input project work hours daily into the company’s billing system using clear and consistent language
Perform work in a timely and efficient manner

Required

Bachelor of Science required from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Physics
Experience in Accident Reconstruction
Highly organized
Multi-tasking capabilities
Attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Can learn new industry-specific software applications
Must be computer savvy and proficient in information search
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
Experience with data analysis and presentation in Microsoft Excel is a plus
Experience with vehicle maintenance, construction, or high-performance driving is a plus
Day travel within California and the surrounding states
Open to occasional early start or late night depending on project needs

Preferred

Strong knowledge of automotive systems
Programming: Hex, Python or C++
Knowledge of heavy vehicle or commercial vehicle systems
Instrumentation and systems testing experience
Familiarity or experience with Electrical Engineering
