Responsibilities
Working in wastewater area for daily operational adjustments, equipment operations and recording data
Must be able to obtain an Iowa Grade 1 wastewater operator license within 18 months
Monitoring operating equipment & report any equipment problems
Monitor and control plant functions through computer information and manual controls
Recording equipment data
Perform and interpret laboratory tests and the analysis of wastewater at various stages of treatment
Maintain accurate logs and record data required for compliance and reporting
Operate sludge press equipment
Perform routine housekeeping and cleanup of facilities
Must be able to operate forklift as needed
Adjustment of treatment chemicals as required
Comply with safety procedures
Occasional overtime may be required
Cover co-worker vacations as needed
Work some holidays as needed (rotating with co-worker)
Qualification
Required
Must be able to obtain an Iowa Grade 1 wastewater operator license within 18 months
Good communication skills
Mechanical skills
General Math Skills
Working with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word for data entry
Self-Motivator
Able to work independently and unsupervised as required
Able to work outside year round as needed
Able to climb stairs
Good attendance record (Less than 3.0 points, for internal candidates)
Preferred
Previous experience helpful, but not required
