Developmental Technician - BSDC (NEW 4, 10 Hour Shifts!)

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking dedicated individuals to join the Beatrice State Developmental Center as Developmental Technicians. The role involves providing care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, assisting with daily activities, and ensuring a safe and compliant environment.

Responsibilities

Assist individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities with day-to-day supports
Perform and/or monitor individual's personal hygiene care such as toileting, bathing, grooming, and dressing
Maintain an active environment to expand individuals’ skills
Follow individualized written plans for behavioral training
Document information related to individual activities, supports, adverse reactions, etc
Administer medication and treatment to individuals
Participate in discussions with interdisciplinary team members about how to best support individuals
Monitor physical environment and take necessary action to ensure safety, sanitary environment and compliance with State and Federal Standards
Recognize emergencies and take appropriate steps to resolve the situation
Accompany individuals into the community on trips, leisure, or medical appointments
Successfully complete all training and certification requirements and become certified on the Nebraska Medication Aide Registry

Required

Must be at least 18 years of age
Possess a valid driver's license
Complete a state approved medication aide course and successfully pass a written and clinical competency exam administered by the State of Nebraska
Be placed on the State of Nebraska Medication Aide Registry as a condition of continued employment
Ability to lift, bend, push and/or pull 50 pounds on a continuous basis to assist clients in meeting their needs and maintaining safety within the home
Proficiency in English, including the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the language effectively
