Highway/ Roadway Project Engineer

Responsibilities

Perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from concept development to final design, including construction support
Develop plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and prepare final bid packages
Establish working relationships and contact with client technical staff and project managers
Manage and mentor junior engineers on project assignments
Attend internal and external meetings with the team
Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subconsultants, and client managers
Coordinate the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, of subconsultants and internal technical and support staff
Participating in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance
Lead projects and complete tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines
Project QA/QC
Assist project managers with various other tasks
Ability to multi-task and manage workload on various projects simultaneously
Initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited university
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in Kansas; additional state licensure is a plus
8-12 years of engineering experience with broad knowledge of transportation design and strong technical skills in highway design
Experience with State DOT and/or local municipality/county design projects
Proficient in MicroStation, OpenRoads, and Microsoft Office products
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a team environment, self-starter, demonstrated organization skills, team player, and willingness to learn
