IT Infrastructure Systems Engineer

Responsibilities

Support and advocate for TAA’s Mission, Vision, Guiding Principles and act as a champion and role-model of TAA’s Cultural Fundamentals
Manage performance and capacity planning for server and network systems. Identify, analyze, and resolve network and related system problems. Install, configure, and troubleshoot equipment such as servers, storage, routers, switches, firewalls, cabling systems, and other network and systems hardware
Install and test software patches, upgrades, and other configuration changes
Monitor and optimize server, storage, and network systems
Monitor and test system performance and provide solutions for any problems identified while maintaining and patching systems for optimal performance and security
Implement, upgrade, and maintain servers (including virtual and hybrid cloud) and associated operating systems, storage systems and enterprise backup systems using latest versions of VMWare
In collaboration with the IT Cybersecurity Team, assess, recommend, implement, and maintain solutions for systems security, including vulnerabilities associated with all types of cyber risks and threats. Identify gaps in IT security for infrastructure and applications, including vulnerabilities and risks, using standard scanning tools, techniques and procedures
Ensure technology infrastructure and network equipment are secure from unauthorized access based on best practices and federal mandates
Ensure all designated data is routinely and properly backed up and recoverable
Research, recommend, and plan for expansion, replacement, or upgrade of technology infrastructure and network equipment and related software. Identify gaps or inefficiencies and resolve those issues effectively
Collaborate with vendors, contractors, management, and other technical experts planning for modernization of current technology infrastructure and the design/installation of new systems. Serve as the subject matter expert on specific technology infrastructure and network equipment
Create and maintain configuration documentation, service records, and procedures for technology infrastructure and network equipment and network management
Document airport copper/fiber cable infrastructure for new and existing technology infrastructure using TAA established standards and methods
Operate, install, evaluate, test, configure, upgrade, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a diverse mix of airport technology as assigned
Install, configure, troubleshoot, upgrade, and maintain various digital information display systems throughout the airport including flight, baggage, gate, and other passenger information displays (EVIDS)
Keep current with emerging technologies and how advances may be leveraged to increase the efficiency/effectiveness of TAA’s business processes
Communicate and interact professionally and effectively with all types of internal and external contacts and customers to resolve technical problems with systems, answer questions, and assist with planning
Support TAA disaster recovery planning and business continuity initiatives
Act as the technical lead on assigned systems and provides advanced technical information about TAA systems/infrastructure, supporting other projects, analysis, and planning initiatives
Attend instructor-led technical education or completes online training to keep current on changing technology. Mentor others and ensure knowledge transfer between team members
Be responsive to airport emergencies and situations that may involve loss of human life or property; support public safety and operational response to emergencies; utilize Incident Command System (ICS)/National Incident Management System (NIMS) protocols and procedures; coordinate and/or participate in after-action emergency de-briefing with appropriate departments and stakeholders

Required

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Information Technology, Business, Information/Cybersecurity
Seven (7) years of experience in medium to large server/network infrastructure environments
Knowledge of Server Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, etc.), characteristics, protocols, commands and components applicable to TAA systems architecture, including server hardware and software, network attached storage (NAS), storage area networks (SAN), virtual/physical server infrastructure
Capacity planning and monitoring within VMWare or other virtual infrastructures
Technology infrastructure security standards and protocols including Software Defined Networks (SDN)
Advanced methods, principles, practices and techniques for troubleshooting and determining the causes of system, computer and other airport systems errors and failures
MS Office 365 and MS Teams
Federal, state and local laws/codes and regulations pertaining to use of hardware and software
Project management tools and techniques
Hybrid cloud datacenter design and function
Skill in installing, configuring, and maintaining various airport technology systems
Critical thinking, analyzing complex problems, evaluating alternatives, and making sound recommendations or taking prudent actions
Troubleshooting complex system hardware, software, and connectivity problems, and making repairs or recommending modifications
Preparing clear, concise, and accurate documentation, policies, work reports, and other written materials
Communicating to establish and maintain professional and effective customer-focused working relationships with managers, vendors, consultants, employees, and others
Ability to work primarily in a typical, temperature controlled administrative office setting in a semi-enclosed workspace

Ability to understand and apply technology principles to evaluate, operate, troubleshoot complex systems hardware, software, or other problems and make repairs or recommend actions to solve or prevent problems

Ability to obtain accurate and complete information from customers (in person, by phone) to identify their needs or problems, and develop solutions

Physical ability to perform tasks with a full range of bodily movements, including lifting (up to 50 pounds), pushing, standing (for periods of two to three hours at a time), walking, reaching bending, kneeling, twisting, and crawling
Ability to perform work in a confined space that may require regular and prolonged bending, working on irregular surfaces, and pulling/pushing job related material or equipment
Ability to climb and work while on a ladder or work from a bucket truck up to 40' high
Ability to hear and communicate using the telephone, cell phone, or radio with sufficient clarity to be understood by others
Ability to read, write, and speak the English language in an articulate and fluent manner
Ability to represent TAA effectively in meetings on a variety of technology issues
Ability to maintain a discreet and professional sense of confidentiality. Understand that dissemination of information outside of the job requirements is based on 'need-to-know'
Ability to prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive technical reports and other written materials
Ability to use Microsoft Office software, computers, and other office equipment
Ability to establish and maintain professional, effective working relationships with department personnel, other TAA personnel, representatives of other agencies, the local business community, and the public and airport users
Adheres to cybersecurity best practices including government requirements
A valid Arizona Driver's license
Meet and maintain the ability to drive personal or airport vehicles and obtain authorization to access the Non-Movement Area on the Air Operations Area
Must obtain and maintain access to the Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA)
Must successfully complete the NIMS/ICS training (ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800) within the first year of assuming the position
