IV Technician

Responsibilities
The IV technician is an individual who, through didactic and supervised practice, has acquired the knowledge and has developed the skills necessary for the practice of intravenous (IV) placement, troubleshooting, and site care
Performs delegated tasks of direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of an RN
Performs IV insertion in the ambulatory and inpatient settings
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or successful completion of GED
One year of previous health care (PCA, Phlebotomy, Donor Services) or customer service (retail/service) industry experience
Able to adapt to unpredictable fluctuations in workload volume within the clinical setting
Able to independently complete delegated tasks and be self-motivated to complete care in a timely manner
Maintains current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers from one of the following programs: American Heart Association or American Red Cross
