Responsibilities

Actively engaging with all departments to assist with understanding and continuous improvement of environmental compliance
Taking a lead role in plant-wide environmental training and audits
Assisting the division with monitoring, sampling, and testing programs and activities as needed to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements and permit limitations
Conducting preparation and technical evaluation of applications, plans, permits, and associated compliance related to environmental media, including water, waste, and Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC)
Assessing environmental initiatives and managing contractor performance
Monitoring on-site waste production, disposal activities, and recycling processes
Conducting audits of disposal and recycling facilities
Collaborating with and fostering strong partnerships with key stakeholders including environmental regulatory agencies, teammates, and fellow environmental professionals
Capable of understanding and applying environmental laws and regulations effectively
Planning and participating in community outreach and education activities

Required

A bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or a closely related discipline
3+ years of experience in NPDES and RCRA environmental engineering and compliance across industrial, consulting, or regulatory environments
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times

Preferred

3+ years of experience in air related compliance, reporting, permitting, air pollution control systems, and continuous emissions monitoring technologies
Industrial, consulting or regulatory experience in environmental engineering, environmental compliance, environmental management, or some combination thereof
Skilled in preparing EPCRA data management, documentation, and reporting
ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and ISO 45001 knowledge and audit experience
