Responsibilities

Advocating for the user in the development process
Providing input on user and design requirements to develop product user interfaces
Developing instructions for use and training
Conducting human factors studies to gather early-stage data and assess/optimize product usability
Identifying and mitigating use-related risks
Conducting user studies
Providing input to the clinical team and launching device training
Authoring human factors reports and content for health authority submissions
Planning usability studies and collecting/analyzing data
Providing input and recommendations for device design
Contributing to human factors reports and documents (e.g., risk analyses)
Participating in human factors team continuous improvement activities (e.g., development of internal tools and templates)
Attending human factors team and individual device team meetings

Required

Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student)
Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program)
Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student)
Must have attained a Master's Degree
Required majors: Human Factors Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Psychology, or a closely related field
Understanding of human factors principles and user-centered design
Knowledge and experience with general human factors methods, which may include user testing, heuristic evaluation, use-related risk analysis
Experience with qualitative and quantitative research
Experience and/or interest in applying human factors to the healthcare or medical device industries
Strong technical writing skills

Preferred

Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of medical device and combination product regulations is helpful, but not required
