Senior Graphics Engineer - Maps Rendering Performance
Apple is looking for an experienced Graphics Engineer with real-time rendering and general system performance skills to join their team. In this role, you will diagnose and resolve complex performance issues across CPU/GPU rendering pipelines and design automated testing strategies to ensure optimal performance across all Maps platforms.

Responsibilities
Identify, diagnose, and address performance bottlenecks in existing and upcoming features, primarily focusing on rendering pipeline as well as underlying system interactions
Partner with rendering engineering teams to understand product components and share performance best practices
Ensure a stable performance test automation setup, reducing noise and increasing confidence in the results
Develop tools for performance analysis, profiling, and regression detection
Collaborate with HW, Metal framework, and OS teams to leverage platform capabilities
Research cutting-edge trends, best practices, and architectural advancements in rendering performance and power optimizations
Qualification
Required
BS in Computer Science or equivalent
8+ years of experience in C++, with a solid understanding of systems architecture and modern graphics real-time rendering pipelines
Experience with Metal or modern graphics APIs (Vulkan, DirectX)
Expertise in low-level CPU/GPU programming and performance engineering techniques
Proven ability with a wide range of profiling tools (e.g., Xcode Instruments, RenderDoc, Android Studio Profiler, VTune, PIX, proprietary tools)
Effective communication of intricate performance analysis to diverse stakeholders, including actionable recommendations
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team and thrive in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments
Preferred
Experience optimizing rendering performance on multiple platforms (e.g. iOS, Android, Desktop)
Demonstrated strong problem-solving, analytical, and rapid learning abilities
Knowledge of power management and battery-life analysis techniques
Experience with Mac or iOS application development using Swift or Objective-C
