The Doctor of Midwifery Program Coordinator is responsible for managing the administrative and academic functions of the Doctor of Midwifery degree program, serving as a primary point of contact for students and faculty, and ensuring compliance with university policies and accreditation requirements.

Responsibilities
Regularly attend monthly admissions meetings
Field admissions inquiries related to the DM program referred from enrollment management
Interview applicants applying for the DM or the MS/PGC+DM and make admissions recommendations
Direct and support funding efforts including Sparacio Foundation
Seek and develop new sources of funding for students
Be present for and contribute to MIDW.501 Orientation Residency, particularly for DM breakout sessions
Prep Canvas courses at least one month before the new semester
Suggest as needed curriculum revisions and work toward curriculum committee submission in collaboration with the PD
Maintain high-level and detailed-level knowledge of all DM courses to ensure appropriate curriculum to meet ACNM Doctoral Level Competencies
Serves as course faculty. Course load would vary each semester and be dependent on the FTE
Act as advisor to all doctoral students
Confer with Academic Success Center and Library support services in support of our doctoral students’ collective success, for example, providing feedback during the year and insights about presentations, resources, etc
Interview potential doctoral faculty at the request of the PD and make recommendations for hiring
Provide support to DM adjunct faculty
Supervise all DM students to submit their IRB proposals
Serve as Principal Investigator on IRB projects or approve of qualified faculty member to be PI
Make alternate plans when students do not submit to the IRB on time
Plan and coordinate MidwiferyThinks!
Ensure Eventbrite is set up on time and accurately for Midwifery Thinks annually
Secure potential Keynote speakers
Contribute to setting the final date for MidwiferyThinks!
Disseminate that information to key stakeholders such as students, speakers, program director (for program convocation), alums, etc
Ensure the doctoral students have sufficient preparation for MidwiferyThinks!
Coordinate obtaining continuing education credits for MidwiferyThinks!
Secure DM jackets to “ring in” new grads
Participate in, maintain and coordinate established Doctoral Program Advising Committee
Participate in DM Program Marketing: attend and present at conferences to market and publicize the DM. Encourage and work with graduates to present at professional conferences
Provide suggestions and review of the DM components of the website to ensure they are current and correct
Ensure that we now have access to the Jefferson Digital Commons and vet and coordinate annual uploads
Post periodically in the Hub and in our private Facebook group to encourage scholarly dialogue and highlight scholarly opportunities to advance midwifery
Establish DM “brand” rituals that help to engage potential and current students/graduates and create buzz around the degree. For example, as a second reader, problem solver, advisor, peer-colleague
Establish an agenda of research and engagement with alumnae through the creation of a research and writing scholarship group and appointment of alums as volunteer faculty to serve on DM committees and potentially to assist with interviews
Assist with the coordination of the Refresher Program (re-entry to practice)
Field questions and communicate with prospective applicants
Review applications and make recommendations for admission
Assist with creating plans of study
Serve as the advisor for students enrolled in the refresher program
Manage the Credit-by-Exam courses and submit completion letters to the registrar
Qualification
Required
Earned doctorate in midwifery or a closely related field from an accredited institution
Certified Midwife (CM) or Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM)
Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience in a Midwifery education program at the rank of Instructor or higher at an accredited institution
Minimum of two (2) years of clinical practice experience as a midwife
Demonstrated leadership experience within a midwifery program or academic health professions setting
Evidence of scholarship, other than doctoral dissertation, which may be demonstrated by contributions to the professional literature, presentations at national, state, or local meetings and/or grantsmanship
Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication and evidence of consistent effectiveness in interpersonal, leadership, and management skills including collaboration with faculty, students, and institutional partners
Participation in Professional organizations at the local, state, or national levels and/or participation in College and/or University Committees
Preferred
Experience with doctoral-level curriculum development, evaluation, or accreditation processes
Familiarity with ACME and ACNM standards and university academic policies
Experience advising or mentoring graduate or doctoral-level students
