Automation Engineer

Sepro America is a leader in robotics and industrial automation, seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to design, program, integrate, and support custom industrial automation systems. The role involves taking automation projects from concept through commissioning while collaborating with cross-functional teams and providing technical support to customers.

Responsibilities

Design and develop industrial automation solutions based on customer and project requirements
Program and configure PLCs, robotics, HMIs, and control systems
Develop automation system specifications, including hardware and software architecture
Integrate automation systems with existing manufacturing equipment and processes
Perform system testing, debugging, validation, and commissioning to ensure performance, reliability, and safety
Troubleshoot and resolve software, electrical, mechanical, and integration issues during development and startup phases
Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize automation performance, uptime, and efficiency
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, production, sales, and service
Provide technical support and training to internal teams and customers
Assist with pre-sales activities, including technical evaluations, system concepts, and demonstrations
Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards, electrical codes, and company policies

Required

Proven experience designing and implementing industrial automation systems in a manufacturing environment
Strong experience with PLC programming (ladder logic, structured text, or equivalent)
Experience working with industrial robotics and motion systems
Solid understanding of industrial controls, sensors, actuators, drives, and safety systems
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings
Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Willingness to travel occasionally for customer installations and system support

Preferred

Experience with programming languages such as C++, Python, or similar (in addition to PLC programming)
Experience with HMI/SCADA systems
Familiarity with injection molding automation or related manufacturing processes
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Automation, Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics) or equivalent experience
