Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities
Collaborates with others on projects and works on small to medium features from design feasibility to manufacturing under the lead of senior engineers
Executes the assembly and fabrication of Cisco hardware products to ensure that deadlines and specifications are met
Performs design for manufacturing (DFM) changes per supplier inputs
Performs simple stack up tolerance analysis to ensure design meets fit and function criteria
Performs mechanical design testing, verification, failure analysis, environmental and reliability testing plans for developed design elements, materials, parts and products
Verifies the quality of the design and escalates issues as needed
Collaborates with test assurance team to define and debug design issues
Compiles list of needed materials in product design(BoM) for single product
Solicits proposals from vendors for budgetary purposes when developing projects, within cost guidelines
Assists with manufacturing and assembly processes using understanding of initial layout of components on the board to optimize design and reduce cost
Executes design feasibility tests on new and modified designs
Prepares detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication for mechanical systems, equipment and packaging
Interacts with lead engineer and works with cross-functional teams such as hardware design team, ECAD team on board layout and NPE for DFM issues
Works directly with thermal engineers to further define and optimate thermal solutions such as heatsink design
Qualification
Required
Bachelors + 2 years of related experience, or Masters + 0 years of related experience
