Responsibilities

Design, implement, and manage Azure analytics infrastructure, including Synapse pipelines and supporting tools
Promote changes in Azure DevOps to production Synapse environments, ensuring seamless deployment
Manage and optimize Synapse pipelines, coordinating with infrastructure teams to deliver accurate and timely data
Build and configure Azure infrastructure to meet evolving business demands and scalability requirements
Troubleshoot data issues within the Enterprise BI platform, including Azure Synapse and Power BI, to ensure data integrity and availability
Implement and verify backup strategies to meet Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)
Respond to and resolve SQL Server service outages, including after-hours and weekend incidents
Configure and maintain monitoring utilities to proactively identify and mitigate server health issues
Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Servers as needed, ensuring adherence to best practices
Deploy database change scripts from third-party vendors or internal teams post-approval, ensuring minimal disruption
Optimize database performance through server configuration adjustments, indexing, and query tuning
Document the company's database environment, including architecture, configurations, and procedures
Plan and monitor database capacity, storage, and growth to prevent performance bottlenecks
Monitor for and resolve locking, blocking, and concurrency issues to maintain system stability
Establish and manage database security policies, ensuring compliance with company standards

Qualification

Required

At least 3-7 years of experience in database administration
Demonstrated expertise in managing production SQL Server environments
On-call troubleshooting experience
Proven track record of resolving critical database issues promptly
Familiarity with DMV queries, Extended Events, SQL Profiler, and other diagnostic tools
Solid understanding of database schema design, normalization, indexing strategies, and data modeling techniques
Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery strategies
Experience in data warehousing and ETL processes
Proficiency in tuning T-SQL queries
Managing database security
Capacity planning
Monitoring database health to ensure high availability and performance

Preferred

Knowledge of backup and disaster recovery strategies
Experience in data warehousing and ETL processes
Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MySQL Database Administrator, or MongoDB Certified DBA
