Senior Structural Engineer

Responsibilities
Research, plan, and design structural solutions for a wide range of industrial facilities. Responsible for completing structural analysis and design of complex structures fabricated from structural steel, reinforced concrete, masonry and wood, and design of complex foundations, including pile- and soil-supported. Also responsible for considerations of environmental loading conditions, including locations with high seismic and/or wind requirements
Responsible for development or coordination of site civil design for a wide range of industrial facilities
Responsible for review of structural shop drawings and data. Interface with suppliers, clients, other engineering disciplines and designers
Responsible for preparation of construction drawing and specification packages as well as supporting calculation packages
Responsible for QA/QC checking of projects completed by other engineers
Qualification
Required
BSc in civil or structural engineering with minimum of 10 years' experience in the petrochemical, oil & gas, power generation and/or metallurgical/mineral process industries
Proficiency with structural engineering and design software (e.g., RISA-3D, STAAD) required
Ability to lead quality management of discipline work processes and deliverables
Ability to develop specifications for and interpret results from geotechnical investigations
Knowledge of applicable model codes addressing structural design/engineering (e.g., ACI, IBC, AISC, ANSI, ASCE)
Strong communication skills, with ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment
Capable of working directly with clients from proposal development through project execution
PE license required with SE highly preferred or the commitment to acquire within one year
Ability to register with NCEES and in other States of company practice required
Eligibility to obtain or currently hold valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) required

Ability to speak, write and understand English
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, electronic, or diagram form
Must be willing and able to independently enter, perform work within, and evacuate from all areas within the client's site
Must be willing and able to complete accurate and efficient field documentation in heavy industrial environment, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE)
Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Preferred
MSc a plus
Experience in vibration analysis and large rotating equipment foundation design a plus
Previous consulting experience is strongly preferred
Experience with site civil design, including grading, drainage, and stormwater collection/management
Familiarity with developing/coordinating site survey data and interpretation/use in developing design drawings
