NATURE PROGRAMMER
City of Lawrence, KS is seeking a Nature Programmer to develop and deliver engaging environmental education programs for diverse audiences. The role involves designing and leading nature-based activities, providing animal care, and overseeing youth camp programs.

Responsibilities
Develops and delivers engaging environmental education programs for diverse audiences, including adults, school groups, youth camps, and community organizations
Designing, leading, and evaluating both indoor and outdoor nature-based activities
Overseeing seasonal youth camp programs at the Nature Center
Providing animal care
Assisting with staff and volunteer supervision
Supporting the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of educational displays, signage, and animal exhibits
Welcoming visitors
Delivering excellent customer service
Collaborating with media outlets on public relations and promotional materials
Assisting with special events
Managing facility reservations and activity registrations
Performing light maintenance tasks, such as cleaning animal exhibits and programming spaces
Making basic equipment repairs
Supporting grounds upkeep to maintain a safe and inviting environment
Qualification
Required
Experience teaching in nature centers, schools, scouts, camps, or similar environments
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid Kansas driver's license
Possess, or have the ability to obtain, CPR and/or First Aid Certification
Pass a background check, post-offer physical, and drug screening
Preferred
Training in animal husbandry
Educational program development
Basic maintenance skills
A bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources Management, or a closely related field
