Responsibilities

Collaborate with microbiologists, designers, electrical engineers, software engineers, and sales teams to define, design, and build complex electromechanical systems for analyzing biological samples
Design precision mechanical assemblies including plastic and metal components, optics, PCBAs, and actuators
Develop high-volume, single-use laboratory equipment for testing biological samples while keeping usability, manufacturing, and cost in mind
Prototype, test, and validate designs against product requirements using 3D printing, machining, and in-house tools
Refine product designs using Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), FEA, reliability testing, and statistical tolerance analysis techniques

Required

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Product Design Engineering
5+ years of experience as a Product Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, or related role in the biomedical/biotech or consumer electronics industry
Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (Siemens NX preferred)
A solid understanding of engineering fundamentals (material properties, heat transfer, manufacturing methods)
Experience working directly with contract manufacturers and component suppliers from prototype builds to mass production
Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Willingness to travel to supplier and customer sites domestically and internationally (up to 15%)
Authorized to work in the US (no sponsorship available for this role)

Preferred

Experience with the design, manufacturing, and qualification of biomedical, biotech, or pharmaceutical consumables and packaging
Experience designing robotics, equipment, and/or systems for laboratory or manufacturing automation
Experience leading projects or project teams
Familiarity with optical and electronics systems
Exposure to quality systems and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 9001)
Professional working proficiency in Mandarin Chinese
