Gallery Operations Intern - Summer 2026

The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is dedicated to providing engaging educational experiences, and they are seeking a Gallery Operations Intern to support the Interpretation Operations team. This role involves assisting with the planning and execution of exhibit-related activities while gaining valuable experience in guest-facing interpretation roles.

Responsibilities

Assist with the distribution and organization of incoming costumes, props, and supplies for interpretation programs
Research costumes and supplies for upcoming exhibits, including All Aboard and WinterFaire 26
Support guest-facing interpretation roles, such as Playscape Greeter, Mission Control Team Takeover assistant, informal interpretation programming, and exhibit maintenance walks
Learn and support STEM interpretation programs as needed
Assist with other interpretation and operations tasks as assigned

Required

Completion of at least 1 year of college coursework
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to take initiative, think creatively, and problem-solve
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and Word
Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
Enthusiasm for learning new skills and gaining experience in a museum environment

Preferred

Preferred majors or fields of study include Theater, Museum Studies, Operations-focused programs, or related disciplines
Experience working with children preferred, but not required
