Manufacturing Quality Engineer (Aviation Components)

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain quality standards, inspection methods, and evaluation criteria for products and manufacturing processes
Establish and maintain quality systems, procedures, inspection plans, and statistical quality programs
Ensure all process control documentation is compliant with contractual, customer, and regulatory requirements
Participate in engineering change reviews, manufacturing process development, and production planning activities to ensure quality objectives are met
Assess product and process quality performance using statistical and analytical methods
Develop and implement statistical process control (SPC) methods, including control charts and capability studies
Perform: Hypothesis testing, Process capability analysis, Normal distribution analysis & Trend analysis
Apply lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles to enhance product quality and operational efficiency
Evaluate cost of quality (COQ) and identify opportunities for improvement
Design and implement methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of products, processes, and equipment
Develop sampling plans using: Attribute sampling, Variable sampling & Sequential sampling techniques
Determine: Sample sizes, Acceptable error levels & Statistical confidence levels
Design or specify inspection and testing equipment as required
Ensure timely processing of nonconforming materials
Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities and disposition processes
Conduct root cause analysis and lead corrective action initiatives using the 8D methodology
Assess responsibility and cost implications of nonconforming products
Coordinate with customers and suppliers on: Quality performance, Trend analysis & Corrective action initiatives
Perform supplier audits, surveys, and performance evaluations
Initiate and lead supplier quality improvement programs as required
Serve as the primary quality interface during customer communications and audits
Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams
Represent the Quality function in daily production meetings
Participate in cross-functional product development and process improvement teams
Mentor junior team members and share specialized technical knowledge
Prepare detailed quality reports by: Collecting and analyzing data, Summarizing findings & Providing actionable recommendations
Develop and deliver training materials related to quality processes and procedures
Write, revise, and maintain quality procedures, work instructions, and documentation
Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and industry regulations
Support internal and external audits
Interface with customers and regulatory agencies as needed
Develop and implement corrective actions for compliance issues

Required

Minimum 2–5 years of relevant experience in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a closely related technical role within a manufacturing environment
At least 1–2 years of direct experience in a production or manufacturing setting supporting quality, process improvement, or product validation activities
Ability to interpret and apply quality standards and regulatory requirements
Ensure compliance with internal procedures, customer specifications, and contractual requirements
Experience supporting internal audits, external audits, customer audits & regulatory inspections
Demonstrated hands-on experience performing root cause investigations, failure analysis & corrective and preventive actions
Direct experience using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D methodology, 5 Why analysis, Fishbone (Ishikawa) diagrams & FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
Experience writing and implementing corrective action plans, tracking and verifying effectiveness of corrective actions & supporting MRB (Material Review Board) activities
Working knowledge of statistical quality tools, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), Control charts, Process capability analysis (Cp, Cpk) & Sampling plans (attribute and variable)
Experience using standard business software (Excel, ERP systems, etc.) & data analysis or statistical tools (Minitab or equivalent preferred)
Experience supporting quality activities within a manufacturing or production environment
Ability to work directly with manufacturing teams on the shop floor & represent the Quality function in daily production meetings
Experience with inspection planning and execution, process validation and control, First Article Inspection (FAI) activities & nonconformance management
Demonstrated experience writing and revising quality procedures & developing work instructions and inspection plans
Experience with quality manuals, process documentation & technical quality plans
Working knowledge of continuous improvement principles, including lean manufacturing concepts, waste reduction or process optimization
Experience participating in continuous improvement projects, Kaizen events or process improvement initiatives
Bachelor's (Required)
Ability to commute to Jacksonville, FL 32254 (Required)

Preferred

Aerospace, aviation, or defense industry experience is highly preferred
Practical experience working within structured Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as AS9100 (preferred), ISO 9001 or similar regulated standards
Experience coordinating customer quality investigations, supplier corrective actions, supplier performance reviews or supplier audits (preferred)
Experience using statistical quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), including creating and interpreting control charts to monitor manufacturing processes
Experience supporting or performing First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 or equivalent industry standards
American Society for Quality (ASQ) certifications, such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA)
Six Sigma certifications: Green Belt or Black Belt
