Information Technology (IT) Technician I

CARTA (Chattanooga Area Regional Transportation Authority) is seeking an Information Technology (IT) Technician to assist with a variety of IT-related tasks. The role involves user support, technical project collaboration, hardware and software management, and effective issue resolution.

Responsibilities

Engage with users and team members to actively listen, analyze, and fix IT-related issues
Provide excellent customer service to internal customers in person, over the phone, via email, or through a support ticketing system
Train CARTA staff on the proper usage of websites, software, and other IT systems
Work with vendors and internal customers to complete IT-related projects
Coordinate with other IT team members to ensure project milestones are met
Provision, install, configure, and maintain computers, printers, copiers, and mobile devices
Troubleshoot and resolve computer hardware, software, network, and internet issues
Prioritize and escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate team members as required
Ensure timely and effective resolution of technical problems
Maintain detailed documentation of procedures, issues, and resolutions
Keep accurate records of all supported assets
Work independently with discipline and motivation to complete tasks efficiently
Ability to perform regular local travel to support various locations

Required

Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and network systems
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Attention to detail and organizational skills
Good knowledge of internet security and data privacy principles
Candidate must maintain a valid driver's license throughout their employment
Ability to lift and move network equipment as needed
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods

Preferred

Experience with IT support ticketing systems and asset management
Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Experience with Active Directory and Microsoft operating systems
Experience with Networking
