S&OP Planning & Optimization Analyst
General Motors is a leading automotive manufacturer, and they are seeking an S&OP Planning & Optimization Analyst to enhance their Sales & Operations Planning process. This role involves collaborating with various teams to design planning logic and support the implementation of a new S&OP technology platform, ultimately improving decision-making and operational efficiency.

Responsibilities
Support the shift toward a unified, system-led S&OP process that integrates demand, supply, and financial planning
Partner with business owners to define assumptions, planning logic, constraints, metrics, and decision rules
Translate S&OP inputs—forecast signals, capacity limits, configuration-level content, operational constraints—into structured scenario definitions
Build and evaluate scenario models that test “what-if” business conditions, identify tradeoffs, and quantify impacts
Serve as a connector across Sales, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Product, and Finance
Facilitate working sessions to align on assumptions, scenario differences, and enterprise-optimized outcomes
Maintain governance and structure of recurring S&OP planning cycles
Contribute to the implementation of a new enterprise S&OP planning platform
Translate business process needs into functional requirements for internal IT functions as well as external software vendors
Assist with testing new system capabilities including scenario creation, variance reporting, forecasting comparisons, and automated recommendation logic
Enable seamless data exchange with upstream and downstream systems
Develop analytics that measure scenario performance
Use structured decision-making frameworks such as AHP
Prepare clear, executive-ready summaries of scenario insights
Build reporting via Excel, BI tools, or system outputs
Qualification
Required
5+ years relevant experience in S&OP, Supply Chain, Scheduling or data science experience
Strong strategic agility with ability to connect data and assumptions
High analytical ability and comfort with complex planning problems
Cross-functional communication and facilitation experience
Self-starter with the ability to influence others in a direct and indirect organizational structure, and across multiple physical locations
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong Excel and PowerPoint capability
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred
Bachelors Degree
Experience with APS systems (Kinaxis, o9, Blue Yonder, etc.)
Understanding of scenario planning, constraint-based optimization, forecasting
Background in automotive or complex-configurable products
Experience in major tech implementations
Experience with BI tools, Tableau, SQL, Databricks and/or Python
Knowledge of master scheduling, production sequencing, BOM, MRP, capacity planning
