FOIA Analyst

First Principles & Concepts (FP&C) is seeking a FOIA Analyst to support the processing of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests for federal government clients. The FOIA Analyst will handle end-to-end FOIA processing activities, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements while maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.

Management Consulting

Responsibilities

Process FOIA requests in compliance with statutory requirements, agency regulations, and applicable guidance
Apply FOIA exemptions accurately and consistently during document review
Conduct effective internet and records research to identify and locate responsive documents
Draft clear, professional acknowledgement, interim, and final FOIA correspondence
Review, redact, and prepare responsive records for release
Maintain accurate and complete case documentation, including notes and supporting materials
Utilize FOIA case management systems and standard office software to track and support FOIA activities
Communicate professionally with internal team members and stakeholders to support FOIA processing and resolution
Support backlog reduction efforts and other FOIA-related initiatives as assigned

Required

Associate degree from an accredited institution
Minimum of one (1) year of FOIA processing experience
Completion of FOIA training is required
Working knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act (5 U.S.C. § 552)
Demonstrated ability to apply FOIA exemptions accurately and consistently
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, professional correspondence
Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database tools
Ability to conduct effective internet and records research in support of FOIA search and review activities
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet established deadlines
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating with a distributed team

Candidates located in the Washington, DC metropolitan area to support client needs
