DOPL Investigator

NEOGOV is part of the State of Utah's Department of Commerce, seeking candidates for the DOPL Investigator position in the Division of Professional Licensing. Responsibilities

Conducting investigations and inspections into allegations of a variety of inappropriate activities, rule infractions, or illegal actions
Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards, and guidelines, etc
Receiving, researching, and responding to incoming questions or complaints; providing information, explaining policy and procedures, and/or facilitating a resolution
Maintaining detailed inspection or investigation records, preparing reports, and attending to other related administrative requirements
Giving testimony and /or recommendations in court cases and/or hearings
Gathering, preserving, and/or storing evidence; maintaining the integrity of evidence through the appropriate collection, handling, security, and chain of custody, etc
Performing initial background and history research on individual(s) being investigated as well as screening, composing, and/or controlling sensitive data/documentation
Conducting interviews to gather or clarify information
Writing detailed reports based on investigation or inspection
Coordinating investigative efforts with federal, state, and/or local agencies

Required

Professional investigative and/or research experience
Professional report writing experience
Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to use logic to analyze or identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts associated with information or data to draw conclusions
Ability to use case management software systems
Ability to use computer relational database software
Ability to deal with people in a manner that shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism
Knowledge of interviewing techniques
Knowledge of investigative techniques and processes
Knowledge of civil and criminal justice laws
Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, and/or policies and procedures
Knowledge of legal processes and procedures
Ability to speak clearly, concisely, and effectively; listen to, and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally; English fluency
Ability to organize information in a clear and concise manner
Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures
Ability to compose and produce reports, documents, and related material
Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing; English fluency
Valid driver license required to drive a motor vehicle on a highway in this state per UCA 53-3-202(1)(a)
You must successfully pass a criminal history check

Preferred

Law enforcement experience
Regulatory or Administrative Investigation Experience
Experience investigating any sexual misconduct or sexually based offenses
Ability to communicate fluently in languages other than English
Experience with Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Meet, and Salesforce
