CAD Tech III
Darling Geomatics is a high-tech surveying company specializing in advanced geospatial data solutions. The CAD Tech III will oversee CAD deliverables across all project phases, coordinate with project teams, and lead CAD production on complex projects while ensuring technical consistency and quality control.
Responsibilities
Oversee CAD deliverables across all project phases, including due diligence and planning, staking documentation, quality assurance, monitoring exhibits, and as-built record drawings
Coordinate directly with principals, project managers, and field crews to ensure technical consistency, constructability, and accountability throughout project execution
Lead CAD production on complex land development, transportation, and infrastructure projects
Produce and review survey plats, ALTA surveys, topographic maps, boundary exhibits, easement descriptions, and construction plan sets using AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Process and validate field survey data from GPS units, total stations, and point cloud/LiDAR datasets for integration into design workflows
Develop and manage advanced Civil 3D surfaces, alignments, profiles, assemblies, corridors, pipe networks, grading plans, and quantity models
Perform earthwork calculations, cut/fill analysis, and quantity takeoffs for engineering design support and bid preparation
Identify and resolve discrepancies between field conditions, survey data, and design intent; recommend solutions to project teams
Enforce and maintain company and client CAD standards, layering conventions, file naming protocols, and drawing management procedures
Conduct technical review and quality control of drawings produced by junior technicians
Maintain organized project files, drawing libraries, and template systems; support document control and revision tracking
Mentor and train CAD Technician I and II staff on software tools, drafting standards, and best practices
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including surveyors, project managers, and field personnel
Qualification
Required
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required
3+ years experience in surveying or geospatial work, land development, engineering, manufacturing/industrial, construction, etc
Extended computer use with high attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining set deadlines
Strong problem-solving skills and technical judgment
Effective written and verbal communication across all project stakeholders
Preferred
Associates or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Surveying, Geomatics, or a related field preferred but not required
