College Facilities Specialist (Administrative Analyst/Specialist, Exempt I)

Responsibilities

Serve as the primary college-side point of contact for facilities-related needs (particularly laboratories) across all departments in the College of Sciences
Own the intake, prioritization, coordination, and follow-through of facilities requests and improvement initiatives
Coordinate with SDSU Facilities Services, Environmental Health & Safety, and Project Management to support facilities operations and projects
Support space planning and utilization efforts for instructional, research, and office environments
Track facilities-related projects, work orders, and budgets; communicate status and impacts to stakeholders
Provide lead work direction to facilities support staff and support compliance with university policies and safety standards

Required

General knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field
Foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods
Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs
Ability to assess, allocate, and optimize instructional, research, and office space in alignment with academic and research priorities
Experience in planning, budgeting, and tracking renovation, construction, or maintenance projects, including scheduling and contractor/vendor coordination
Skilled in developing renovation/maintenance budgets, monitoring expenditures, and preparing financial reports to support decision-making
Familiarity with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, laboratory infrastructure, and other facility systems common in academic and research environments
Knowledge of OSHA, fire/life safety, ADA requirements, and Environmental Health & Safety standards specific to laboratories and science facilities
Proficiency with facilities management systems, work order software, space utilization databases, and reporting dashboards
Ability to work with university procurement systems, vendors, and contractors to ensure services are delivered on time, within scope, and in compliance with policies
Skilled in leading facilities staff, setting priorities, scheduling work, and ensuring a collaborative and service-oriented culture
Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with faculty, staff, students, and external partners; ability to explain technical issues in clear terms
Ability to address urgent facility issues, coordinate emergency responses, and implement practical solutions quickly

Preferred

University/College and/or public agency laboratory experience is highly desirable
Experience working with diverse groups (faculty, staff, students, administrators, contractors) and effectively communicating technical and project-related information is desirable
