Refrigeration Mechanic - Licensed E10 / OOD / BFFD / MSS / Facility Services Unit

Responsibilities
This position is responsible for obtaining proper permits as required by law to carry out refrigeration mechanic work
The licensed refrigeration mechanic performs skilled assignments involving installation of heating, refrigeration, air conditioning, pneumatic, humidity, and digital direct control systems as part of construction and or remodeling projects
Maintain all HVAC systems and associated equipment at all MSP Facilities
This position functions in a bias-free manner
Qualification
Required
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school
Five years of experience in the HVAC or refrigeration mechanic trade, such as heating and cooling, hydronic heating, refrigeration cooling, or mechanical contractor or inspector, including one year equivalent to a Refrigeration Mechanic E9
Michigan Mechanical Contractor's license (Minimum of both limited heating and limited refrigeration)
Required EPA certification in compliance with section 608 of the Clean Air Act of 1990 as amended
Passing a pre-employment screening, including passing a drug screen, criminal history background check, and a fingerprint check by the Michigan State Police
Applicants will be screened out for failure to attach the required resume, cover letter/memo, and (if applicable) official transcripts to their application
Possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) issued by the Secretary of State as required by Public Act 346 of 1988 to operate a designated state vehicle
Willing and able to obtain the universal certification within three months of an offer of employment
Possess a mechanical contractor's license to carry out refrigeration mechanic work at construction or remodeling project sites
Willing and able to travel to statewide locations
Possess a valid driver's license
Preferred
Completion of a vocational training program in refrigeration mechanics that includes commercial or industrial level instruction may be substituted for two years of experience assisting skilled trades workers
