The New York State Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) provides operational support for various applications across New York State Agencies. The Information Technology Specialist 2 will function as a Junior Solution Architect, focusing on the integration of Operational Technology and Information Technology systems to enhance efficiency and security within the organization.

Responsibilities
Assist senior architects in designing and documenting integrated IT/OT solutions
Participate in requirements gathering sessions with technical and non-technical stakeholders from both Business, IT and OT departments
Support the development of technical specifications and architectural diagrams for new systems and upgrades
Support the development of specifications, implementation guides, and operational support (SOP, SLA, SLO)
Research and evaluate new technologies and solutions relevant to IT/OT convergence
Contribute to the implementation and testing of integrated solutions, ensuring alignment with architectural standards
Help identify and document potential risks and vulnerabilities in IT/OT environments
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, engineering, and operations
Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to IT/OT integration
Maintain documentation for IT/OT architectures, standards, and best practices
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in IT/OT convergence
Qualification
Required
One year of permanent service as an Information Technology Specialist 1, Grade 14
A bachelor's or higher-level degree including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science; or a bachelor's or higher-level degree in any field and one year of experience in information technology; or 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science and one year of professional experience in information technology; or two years of professional experience in information technology
Preferred
0-3 years of IT experience, with a portion focused on solution architecture, and system design
Foundational understanding of IT concepts such as networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
Basic understanding of OT concepts
Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices, particularly as they apply to IT/OT environments
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and challenges
