Landscape/Grounds Management Intern - Summer 2026
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis is dedicated to fostering an inclusive culture and is seeking a Landscaping/Grounds Management Intern for Summer 2026. This role involves hands-on work with the Groundskeeping Supervisor to maintain and enhance the museum's outdoor spaces through planting, seasonal clean-up, and landscape design projects.

Responsibilities
Assist with planting flowers, shrubs, and trees to enhance the Museum’s landscaping, including seasonal annuals and perennials
Perform daily grounds maintenance tasks such as campus clean-up, trash collection, and general upkeep to ensure a neat and welcoming appearance
Perform seasonal clean-up tasks, including tree and shrub trimming, mulching, transplanting perennials, and container garden maintenance
Support landscape design and build projects under the guidance of the Groundskeeping Supervisor
Water and maintain annual plants and landscaped areas
Help with the set-up, transportation, and takedown of tables, chairs, and equipment for Museum events
Maintain groundskeeping equipment by fueling, cleaning, and performing minor maintenance tasks
Observe other departments to learn more about Museum operations
Qualification
Required
Be pursuing an undergraduate degree, preferably in Landscaping, Horticulture, or Grounds Management
Have at least two years of college completed by the start of the internship
Possess basic plant knowledge and an interest in landscape design/build
Be capable of lifting to 50 lbs
Be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, with or without reasonable accommodation
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and squat for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation
Must be able to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
Must be able to use hand tools and groundskeeping equipment safely, with or without reasonable accommodation
Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members, with or without reasonable accommodation
