Technical Writer

Responsibilities

Gather information, research, plan, outline, write, and edit technical documents that provide accurate information
Collaborate with all levels of the organization to gain an understanding of procedures and products
Tailor content to the intended audience, making complex information simple and easily understood
Review and proofread content for clarity, accuracy, grammar, and adherence to style guides and legal standards
Integrate multimedia to include diagrams, illustrations, screenshots, and photos to enhance user understanding of the material
Gather feedback to improve content and usability
Problem solve document issues using existing practices, procedures, and experience
Audit document distribution locations and note discrepancies
Collaborate with technical writing team to improve document standards
Use guidance and input from manager to align priorities and responsibilities to meet business and team objectives
Support team members as needed
Promote a safe culture for yourself and those around you
Other duties as assigned

Required

Experience writing procedural documentation
Understanding of confidentiality practices

Observe plant PPE standards, which may include a half and/or full-face mask respirator
Accountability for follow through and completion of documents
Write clearly, concisely, and accurately
Collaborate with diverse teams
Learn quickly and understand complex subject matter and new tools
Attention to detail ensuring instructions are accurate and error free
Break down complex concepts and organize information
Manage time and meet deadlines
Ability to use resources to find answers
Proficiency of Microsoft Office Software Suite, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook

Preferred

Bachelor's degree with 1 year of experience writing procedural documentation or Associate's degree with 3 years of experience writing procedural documentation
Experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment is highly preferred
Experience in a represented environment is highly preferred
