Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

Serve as a senior mechanical engineer within weapon system specific integrated product team
Execute operational responsibility in assigned area(s)
Provide technical direction and dispositions in activities involved in the design, development, commission, manufacture, operation, maintenance, and disposal of landing gear systems, subsystems, associated equipment, and/or components
Work encompasses several phases of the life-cycle acquisition to include but not limited to procurement, in-service sustainment, overhaul, and disposal

This may be a designated Drug Testing Position
An engineering degree at the bachelor's level from an institution with an ABET accredited program in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required
Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft
The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license may be required for the position
Knowledge of professional mechanical engineering concepts, principles, practices, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment to effectively apply advanced engineering theories, principles, and concepts to project development, execution, and advisory services
Knowledge of development testing and evaluation sufficient to apply experimental theories and/or new applications to issues and provide technical advice and direction in support of aircraft mechanical systems, subsystems, devices, and/or equipment
Knowledge of integrated air-vehicles, ground systems, and support equipment sufficient to plan, design, test, troubleshoot, evaluate, and oversee the development and/or sustainment of mechanical systems or devices
Knowledge of the principles of planning and program management; standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures; other engineering disciplines; and computer aided design and drafting (CADD) programs and other software such as information management and project tracking programs
Ability to devise and evaluate criteria, parameters, characteristics, and interrelationships for design approaches and to assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy, both orally and in writing, as well as work in a professional manner with peers, management, contractors, academia, and other agencies
