Responsibilities

Read, interpret, and execute work orders and other job documentation
Ensure Pilot vehicle is stocked with all required tools and materials for your work orders
Dispatch to a variety of work locations (primarily office buildings in the NYC area)
Provide exceptional customer service to both customers and building staff
Create and navigate pathways for fiber-optic cable, innerduct, and EMT conduit, often requiring drilling through both drywall and masonry
Install or assist with the installation of innerduct and EMT conduit where required to support Pilot’s cabling requirements
Mount and install fiber-optic splice cases, termination panels, and distribution panels
Assist with preparing fiber-optic cable for termination in a variety of splice cases and panels
Run and secure pre-terminated fiber-optic cable between Pilot distribution panels and customer office spaces
Install fiber-optic modems (ONTs), network switches, and wireless routers
Troubleshoot and repair a variety of issues including poor signal/light levels, malfunctioning equipment, as well as damaged and/or cut cables
Complete progress reports and job documentation forms as required

Required

Excellent written and oral communication skills
2+ years of experience working at an ISP in a field role on a fiber team
Demonstrated understanding of the basics of fiber-optic PON deployments including ONT installation, troubleshooting, splitter configurations, and light budgets
Experienced in operating testing equipment such as VFLs, and OPMs
Demonstrated field experience in mounting and installing a variety of panels and enclosures
Passion for customer support
Ability to work from 7am-3pm, Monday-Friday, with the flexibility to work outside of regular hours from time-to-time, based on business needs
Ability to begin and end workday at Pilot's facilities in Greenpoint, Brooklyn
Comfortable working in confined spaces (basements, electrical closets, shaft-ways, etc.) and on ladders
Willing to work in all weather conditions
Capability of lifting up to 75 pounds
Valid, clean drivers license (MVR check required)
Valid OSHA 30 Hour Construction Certification required
