Broadcast Engineer, Media Center

They are seeking a Broadcast Engineer to provide technical leadership for the Media Center, overseeing the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of broadcast and multimedia equipment while supporting academic programming and campus events.

Responsibilities
Manage all broadcast and A/V equipment in studios, labs, and event spaces, including cameras, teleprompters, monitors, lighting, audio systems, digital playback, and live-streaming/hybrid event technologies
Lead preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and equipment lifecycle management
Maintain inventories, records, and documentation in compliance with legal and institutional requirements
Supervise and train technical staff, student interns, and faculty on equipment use, safety protocols, and emerging technologies
Research, recommend, and implement new technologies to keep BMCC’s Media Center at the forefront of broadcast and multimedia production
Collaborate with vendors, IT, and academic departments for technology procurement, integration, and support
Ensure all operations adhere to FCC, ADA, and campus safety regulations
Conduct risk assessments and report incidents related to equipment or operations
Promote BMCC’s values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of Media Center operations
Commitment to ongoing learning and certification in broadcast technologies
Participation in industry workshops and BMCC training initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required
Minimum six years' experience in broadcast engineering, with a focus on facility design, repair, and technology innovation
Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects and lead teams
Experience with studio and remote production, streaming platforms, and hybrid event support, particularly with setup and technical operations
Strong communication skills and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Ability to provide technical support for studio and remote site television production and postproduction activities
High level of self-motivation, attention to detail, and orientation toward providing service
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Electrical Engineering or related discipline preferred)
Preferably as a Broadcast Systems Engineer in a mid-sized to larger market
