IT & Practice Support Engineer

Responsibilities
Provide leadership and oversight of Service Desk operations to ensure timely resolution of support tickets and incidents
Mentor and support team members while promoting a culture of technical excellence
Document and escalate issues appropriately
Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across desktops, applications (especially Ortho2), imaging machines (CBCT, Panos, Ceph), and network configurations
Ensure system performance, reliability, and minimal downtime
Coordinate and manage dispatches to orthodontic practices to ensure prompt, effective on-site support
Maintain communication and scheduling alignment between clinical teams, technicians, and IT leadership
Provide advanced support for Ortho2, imaging systems, and associated hardware/software
Support clinical workflows and enhance patient care through reliable system performance
Perform essential systems administration tasks including monitoring, routine maintenance, and patching/updates
Support stability and performance of core IT systems
Support safeguarding the integrity, security, and availability of IT systems
Assist with IT asset management, data protection, and disaster recovery planning aligned with business continuity strategies
Serve as a liaison between IT and clinical stakeholders to ensure IT solutions align with operational strategy
Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences while supporting seamless practice workflows
Stay current on technology trends, regulatory updates, and industry best practices
Champion innovation and continuous improvement across the IT function
Partner with technology vendors and service providers to secure quality services and outcomes
Identify risks to IT operations and data integrity and assist in mitigation planning
Create and maintain an internal knowledgebase to support consistent service delivery
Use scripting/programming skills (as applicable) to enhance efficiency and support strategic projects
Engage in 'light' systems administration tasks to build foundational hands-on experience with system architecture, data storage, and network security
Prepare for future growth into a Systems Administrator role
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
Minimum of 3 years' experience in IT systems management/support
2–3 years' experience supporting Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2012/2016/2019
Practical experience in Microsoft 365 user creation and management
Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and independent decision-making skills
Detail-oriented with focus on policy compliance, accuracy, and documentation
Strong customer service orientation
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Preferred
Experience with Orthodontic Practice Management Systems (e.g., Ortho2 Edge)
Experience supporting imaging machine technologies in a clinical setting
Familiarity with Azure Virtual Desktop and Azure-hosted servers
Knowledge of network administration and security protocols
Certifications preferred: ITIL, A+, MCP, MCSA, MCTS
Experience managing IT projects and implementing solutions aligned to business goals
Knowledge of healthcare IT trends and best practices, especially in orthodontics
